Game 10 BGN World Championship

Unbelievable! After getting a difficult position in the opening, Kasparov looked set to put up heroic resistance as he did in games 4 and 6 after what looks like a slip by Kramnik on move 23.

But the Champion played immediately and right now, mere minutes after the game finished, it looks like this hurried move - still with 30 minutes on his clock - was a fatal blunder. Kasparov resigned on move 25 when it was clear he must give up his rook for Kramnik’s knight and be left with a hopeless position.

With only six games to play, Garry Kasparov needs two wins to level the score and retain the title he has held for 15 years.

From the press conference: Kasparov: "If I play the way I know I can play, I know I can get back into the match." Kramnik: "I know the match is not over yet."
